Product reviews in bundles: Judge.me and other review apps

MixMaxer shows the star ratings your review app already keeps on each product, inside bundles, bought-together suggestions, mix & match sets and boxes, and on a bundle's page.

Shoppers trust a product more when they see its reviews at the moment they decide. MixMaxer shows the rating of every product inside an offer, taken from your review app, so a bundle of three well-reviewed products says so.

Where the stars appear

  • Fixed bundles: next to each component product in the strip above the tier.
  • Frequently bought together: next to the product you are viewing and each suggestion.
  • Mix & match (collection pages) and Build your own box: on every product card.
  • Volume offers: the product's own rating under the widget title, if you switch it on in Settings.
  • The bundle's own product page: the ratings of the included products, and optionally one line “based on N reviews across the included products”.
A bundle is its own product and has no reviews. MixMaxer never shows a rating as the bundle's own; the aggregate line always says it comes from the included products.

Which review apps work

Judge.me, and any review app that fills Shopify's standard product rating fields (reviews.rating and reviews.rating_count). Judge.me does this out of the box. For another app, check that its documentation mentions the Shopify “reviews” metafields. MixMaxer only reads them: it writes no metafields, creates no reviews and calls no review API from your storefront, so the stars add no page requests.

Turn it on or off

  1. Settings › Review ratings: “Show review ratings from your review app” is on by default. Nothing shows for products without reviews, so it is safe to leave on.
  2. A single offer can switch the stars off in its Display step.
  3. Settings also has the volume-offer rating and the bundle-page aggregate line (both off by default).
  4. The same section says whether a review app was found, for example “Judge.me detected (ratings found on 12 products)”. It refreshes with every sync.

Connect Judge.me (optional)

Integrations › Judge.me › Connect Judge.me asks Judge.me for read access to your reviews. It is not needed for the stars to appear. It lets MixMaxer fill in ratings for products whose rating Judge.me has not written to your store yet, and it tells Judge.me the integration is in use. Disconnect any time; the saved token is deleted.

مشاكل شائعة

I have reviews, but no stars show in my offer.

Open a product's metafields in the Shopify admin (Settings › Custom data › Products) and check that “reviews.rating” and “reviews.rating_count” have values. If your review app does not write them, the stars cannot show. Then check Settings › Review ratings is on, the offer's Display step has the box ticked, and re-sync with the store.

Only some products show stars.

Products without reviews show nothing. On pages with many products, Shopify lets a theme read at most 20 products by handle, so MixMaxer shows stars for the first 16 products of a bundle or suggestion list on a product page and the first 20 in a box; collection pages (mix & match) are not limited. Connecting Judge.me fills in the rest.

I uninstalled my review app.

The stars disappear on their own once the ratings are removed from your products. Nothing breaks.
